Green Room

We have sort of been in a rut with the house for the last few months. Not exactly sure why, we've just been busy and working crazy hours so we just haven't really done much. But Kyle finally got motivated one day and went and got some paint!!! We are turning one of the upstairs bedrooms into an office/guest room. I let Kyle pick out the paint color *gasp*! I know! He did a great job though, it's an olive green color... Slate Green to be exact. It looks soooo nice!! No more yucky blue and gray! I seriously need some accent color suggestions.... I'm kind of stuck. Is white or cream too plain and safe? Would red/burgundy be to Christmasy? Is black or brown too dark? (I'm kind of staying away from brown anyway since our entire living room is green and brown already) Suggestions please!!

Old yucky colors

BEHOLD...

New green room... before all the junk got moved back in!

We even painted the closet, go us!

Exciting times!

There have been lots of exciting things going on around here lately.

Of course we got a beautiful snow that kept us home for 3 days straight. It was the first big snow in our new house so it was very exciting. I think we got about 5 inches around our area which was enough for the public schools to be out most of the week. It was awesome and super relaxing. Kyle and I decided it was a perfect time for an Indiana Jones marathon and we ate tons of junk food. After 3 days we were definitely ready to get out of the house though!

I started training for my new job last week. I am loving Rex Hospital so far, it's a great place. Of course I'm a little sentimental about the place since I was born there and all, hehe. It is a totally different environment then where I work in Durham plus it's a lot closer to home. It's a lot more professional and organized and there are policies and procedures for everything. Being Type A and super organized, I'm in heaven right now. I can not stand the place I work in Durham, it's chaos as far as I'm concerned and every day gets more and more ridiculous. To make it even better, I am only doing MRI at Rex, my other job requires me to work in CT as well. The other techs have really accepted me and brought me in as their equal and are totally wonderful with training and helping me. I am very satisfied with this decision so far. I will only be working at Rex part time and a lot on the weekends so I think it's going to work out great.

Also, Kyle and I are in our third week of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University class. It is awesome so far, we are learning a LOT! I highly recommend his class to anyone. And no, it's not a Bible study but he is a Christian and comes from that perspective. However, his advice and teachings are common sense and will work for everyone who wants to get out of debt. What makes Dave even more authentic is that he has been there and done that. He went totally broke and had to file bankruptcy. He teaches what he has learned from his experiences and how he and his wife are now totally debt free!! His stuff works and Kyle and I are determined to stick it out and we will get there eventually. It just requires a lot of self-disciple and patience, but we will get there!!

I am also super excited right now about one of my bestest friends who is going to Haiti!! She is a nurse and will be going down there for 10 days on a medical team. She thinks they are going to be at a burn clinic or a pediatric clinic. She leaves in two weeks and she is really nervous and scared about it but I know she is going to be such a blessing to the Haitian people. I wish I could go!! Please keep her and the team in your prayers, her name is Kristina. There is still much work to be done down there, may the light of Christ shine through these teams who are sacrificing their time and money to go down and use their talents to serve.

Happy Monday!!

Living Room

We are VERY slowly getting our house together. We are almost finished with the living room and we will then tackle the dining room. We pretty much know what we want to do in each room, it's just a matter of time and money to make it happen.

CHANGES MADE:
Wall color: hot chocolate... similar to what it was, but it needed repainting so we decided to change it slightly
new pillows for couch (Pier One) and "matching" rug (Kohl's)
curtains (Bed, Bath and Beyond)
switched out ugly fan for a plain white one we already had
new brushed silver wall plates

I have the wall decor, just don't have it up yet... we still need to add more seating, roman shades for the back doors, and a new coffee/end tables

But, here is the living room so far...

We moved!!!

We just got our internet hooked up yesterday... that's right, 4 whole days without the internet. I thought I was going to die.

The closing went well on Friday and we moved in on Saturday. Just a few minor set backs along the way but no major problems so far. We still have quite a few boxes to unpack but overall it looks great in here! We are going to start painting and decorating next week and I can't wait! I'm so excited to give the house a make-over and make it mine!!

On a funnier note... we introduced our indoor-only kitty to the great outdoors and she has proven to be quite the princess. She is refusing to walk across the grass at this point, it apparently feels funny to her soft, sensitive, INDOOR paws... she would rather sit in the garage for 8 hours than run around and play in the yard. She just sits and cries at the door to come in or sleeps on the stairs. Bless her heart, she acts so deprived. I've already explained to the neighbors about the situation so they don't think we are evil. She WILL learn to love the outdoors!

I will post pics soon, I promise!

They Accepted!

The sellers accepted our offer! Whuhooooo!!!! The inspection will be on Thursday so Kyle has to go to that, hopefully there is nothing major wrong with the house. We are so super excited that I can hardly sleep at night, which doesn't happen often to me, haha.

The foot is slowly getting better. After 8 hours of walking... or hobbling on it yesterday at work, it was very swollen and sore last night, and both legs are cramping up like crazy. SO annoying. I did get tons of sympathy at work though, it was kinda nice ;)

Have a great week!!

House

We decided to go ahead and make an offer on this house before somebody else does. The housing market in our area is actually doing very well. Many of the other houses we've looked at and liked are already under contract. Hopefully the sellers will be good to work with and will negotiate with us! **fingers crossed**

and YAY for tomorrow being Friday!! It's been a long week...
